What is the Networking Reception?
The Networking Reception offers companies and students the chance to introduce themselves,
talk informally about their latest work and projects and share information about their
professional interests and focus.
The Networking Reception is an opportunity for employers to meet with 175+ RISD students
from all years in school and all majors. Students will look forward to meeting you, sharing their
resume and/or business card and asking questions about ways to follow-up for future
internships and jobs. Hors d'oeuvers and drinks will be served!
What is the schedule?
The event begins at 6:00 pm RISD campus, 20 Washington Place, 1st floor Lobby and Auditorium. Employers are encouraged to arrive any time after 5:30 pm.
Stop at the Employer Check-in when you arrive, pick up your name badge and meet the RISD
Careers Team who will be happy to direct you to students and answer your questions.
Who should attend?
Designers, creative directors, principals, human resource professionals, and talent acquisition staff/recruiters who are registered to attend the Design Portfolio Review and/or Interview Day are welcome to attend the Networking Reception.
We encourage companies to have 1-3 staff in attendance to talk with as many students as possible and to offer multiple points of view regarding your current work and projects and the hiring process.
If you have RISD alumni that work with you, we hope they will attend! Alumni can be strong advocates for your company and can heighten student interest in working with you. Their ability to offer unique insights on how to translate a RISD education into the professional world is an advantage.
Registration for the Networking Reception is free. (The Design Portfolio Review and Interview Day require payment to attend.)
What do I need to bring?
Please bring business cards and an envelope or folder to gather student resumes, business cards and portfolio samples.
